"Adventure awaits in the depths of Davokar — but corruption follows the greedy."
Symbaroum is a dark fantasy RPG set around Davokar, an ancient forest hiding the ruins of a lost civilization. Ambrian refugees push into the wood chasing treasure, while barbarian clans and the elven Iron Pact warn that something old is stirring beneath the roots. Play blends treasure-hunting expeditions, uneasy politics, and creeping corruption. The system is famously player-facing: you roll a single d20 under your attributes, while monsters never roll at all.
The refugee kingdom of Ambria sits on the southern edge of Davokar, a vast, shadowed forest. Beneath its canopy lie the ruins of Symbaroum, a fallen empire whose relics tempt treasure hunters and whose buried evil poisons anyone who digs too deep. Barbarian clans, witches, and the elven Iron Pact all guard the wood's secrets.
Player-facing d20
Only players roll dice. You roll a single d20 and must land at or under the relevant attribute; the GM's monsters use fixed values and never roll against you.
Corruption
Sorcery and dark relics stain the soul. Temporary corruption builds through a scene, and crossing your threshold turns you Thoroughly Corrupt — a slide toward becoming an abomination.
Davokar expeditions
Campaigns revolve around treasure-hunting forays into a living, dangerous forest. Ruins reward the bold, but every unearthed artifact risks corruption and the wrath of the Iron Pact.
Classless builds
No rigid classes. Characters mix archetypes and buy abilities, powers, and rituals freely, deepening a niche or branching into new ones as experience accrues.
