"Sneak through a portal, land the trick, go viral — and be home in time for dinner."
Slugblaster is a coming-of-age sci-fi RPG about teenage hoverboarders from the sleepy town of Hillview who slip into other dimensions to explore, film tricks and chase fame. A stripped-down Forged in the Dark engine drops stats and skills entirely: you roll a small pool of d6s, spend boost and kick, and take dares. Runs through the multiverse earn style and trouble, which you then spend at home on story beats that drive each character's personal arc.
Hillview is a boring small town where nothing happens — except that its teenagers have hacked portal tech and spend their evenings in the multiverse. Beyond the doorways lie the post-apocalyptic wastes of Vastiche, the cyberpunk sprawl of Operaeblum, rival crews, corporate sponsors, giant bugs and authorities who would love to confiscate your board. Then you go back to homework and parents.
Action roll, boost and kick
No stats or skills. Roll one d6, add dice by spending boost, and keep the highest: 6 succeeds, 4-5 is mixed, 1-3 fails. Spend kick to make the result hit harder.
Dares and "Check it!"
Accept a dare to gain an extra die at the price of trouble. Call "Check it!" before a trick to earn style, while inviting far nastier fallout if you bail.
Slams and trouble
Bad rolls cause slams, short harms from scraped knees to broken hearts or being grounded. Trouble piles up alongside them, and too much of either sends your life spinning into disaster.
Beats, arcs and signature gear
Back in Hillview, spend style and trouble on beats, scripted downtime scenes that form your character's arc and lead to legacy or doom. Each teen also owns one moddable signature device.
