What is this system

Not quite a system — more of a mega-module setting for any OSR game. A linear route through psychedelic wastelands — a 'pointcrawl' (traveling point to point along a route). Every week of travel brings a new wild location. Works with Cairn, Into the Odd, D&D 5e — adapts to any engine.

Setting

You lead a trade caravan from the Violet City through ultraviolet steppes to the Black City at the edge of the world. Along the way: cat-people on sailboats, living mountains, ruins of civilizations that toyed with reality. Style — Moebius + Yellow Submarine + Dying Earth.

What it looks like at the table
Week 7 of the journey. Caravan: two camels, a cat-folk mercenary, a wagon of violet crystals. You enter the Singing Waste — the air vibrates, the crystals start resonating. Luck roll — failure. One camel goes mad from the sound and bolts. Half the goods are lost. Ahead — the Glass Fair, where memories are traded.

Key mechanics

Art as content

Luka Rejec is an artist. Every page is a work of art. The style inspires play all by itself.

Caravan economy

Resources, trade, hirelings. The caravan is your mobile home. Managing it is core gameplay.

Linear route

The map is a path with points of interest. Every week — a new location. Simple structure, infinite depth.

System-agnostic

Works with any OSR system. Cairn, ItO, even 5e. UVG is content, not rules.

What people say
UVG is the most beautiful RPG book I own. Every page makes me want to run a session. Luka Rejec's art IS the game — it does more worldbuilding than 10 pages of lore text.— u/psychedelic_gm, r/osr
We've been running UVG with Cairn for 20 sessions. Every week the group arrives at a new point and it's always something completely unexpected. The caravan management adds just enough crunch to ground the weirdness.— u/violet_city_trader, r/rpg
