What is this system

Scion is Onyx Path's contemporary fantasy game. Players take on mortal descendants of gods who act as their parents' agents in the mortal world. The second edition, released in 2019, replaced the Storytelling system with Storypath, and characters grow by completing Deeds, with Legend rising directly from those accomplishments. Its pantheons are drawn from mythologies around the world, so ancient gods and their offspring can share one campaign. A third edition on Storypath Ultra was announced in June 2026, with no release date yet.

Setting

Our world, where gods have long meddled in human history and left children behind. Demigods live between the mortal and the divine, and the road to apotheosis runs through their own choices. The game explores myth, family conflict and the price of greatness.

What it looks like at the table
Your demigod stands before a door behind which waits a god-parent with an order that cannot be carried out quietly. The Storyteller asks whether you follow the command to the letter or find a way around it. You roll a Storypath pool to see which Deed this night adds to your legend.

Key mechanics

Storypath

The second edition uses the Storypath system of d10 pools, the same engine as Trinity Continuum. It is built to handle everything from mortals to near-divine beings.

Deeds

Characters advance by completing Deeds rather than by spending experience points. Legend rises directly from these accomplishments.

God-parents

Every demigod is an agent of a divine parent. Errands, debts and clashes within the divine family drive the story.

Origin and Hero

Play requires the Scion: Origin core rulebook. Book Two, Hero, adds character creation, Knacks and Boons, and more detail on the World.
