What is this system

A cinematic action RPG where you play action movie heroes. The Director's Cut system: roll a d6 pool, successes are matches (pairs, triples, four-of-a-kind). Character creation in minutes: Role (Muscle, Brain, Face) + Trope (Retired Cop, Spy on Sabbatical, Teenage Hacker). Perfect for one-shots and mini-campaigns.

Setting

Any action movie. Genre modules: spy thriller (James Bond), cop action (Die Hard), heist (Ocean's Eleven), martial arts (John Wick). Action Flicks add Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, pulp. Your table is a film set.

What it looks like at the table
Skyscraper rooftop. The villain's helicopter takes off. 'I jump onto the landing gear!' Roll: 4 dice. Two threes — a pair! Success, you grab hold. Heat rises. GM: 'The pilot spots you and banks hard.' Next player: 'I shoot the tail rotor from a window in the next building.' Three sixes. Triple! Epic success. The helicopter spins out of control. The table erupts.

Key mechanics

d6 matches

Pairs, triples, four-of-a-kind — each match is bigger than the last. Push your luck: add dice, but risk failure.

Heat

An escalation meter. The longer it goes, the more enemies, the tighter the deadline. Like a soundtrack building to the climax.

Instant start

Character creation — 5 minutes. Role + Trope = ready hero. Sit down and play.

Action Flicks

Genre modules. Each changes the tone and adds unique mechanics for a specific action genre.

What people say
No other recent game captures the rhythm of an action film quite like this. The push-your-luck dice make every roll feel like a slow-motion explosion.— Geeknative
We played a Die Hard scenario. One player jumped off the roof with a fire hose. He rolled three sixes. The table erupted. This is what Outgunned is for.— RPGnet
