What is this system

Outcast Silver Raiders is an OSR game with a jaw-dropping art style — red, black, and white, in the extreme-metal aesthetic of Kim Diaz Holm. Outcast mercenaries scrape silver from a brutal mythic world. Its own 'always roll high' engine uses a different die per situation. Influences: Lamentations of the Flame Princess, The Black Hack, and The Swordfish Islands.

Setting

The Mythic North — a blood-drenched occult medieval world inspired by 12th-century Scottish folklore and the medieval Catholic church. Low magic with a horror undercurrent: rotting keeps, heretics, saints, and things from underground. Not heroism — the survival of outcasts who need silver to last one more winter.

What it looks like at the table
The party creeps into a ruined abbey for the altar's silver. The thief tests a skill — a d6, always rolled high: a 5 clears the target, and the relic is yours. But a bell tolls outside. A clash is coming — an attack rolls d20 high against a defense. Here cunning beats slaughter: the best fight is the one you avoid.

Key mechanics

Always roll high

Each situation uses its own die: d20 for attacks, d10 for saving throws, d6 for checks. You always roll high. A simple, intuitive system with no modifier tables.

The Mythic North

An occult medieval world inspired by 12th-century Scotland and the Catholic church. Low magic, a horror undercurrent, blood and sanctity — a complete, grim setting in the box.

Quest over combat

Encounters reward ingenuity and problem-solving, not killing. Player skill is what matters: trick it, bypass it, talk your way past. Open combat is a last, dangerous resort.

No-prep campaign

Built to run right out of the box: dice tie factions and encounters together on the fly. Minimal GM prep — maximal play at the table.
