"There are many pilots in the galaxy, but only one of you."
LANCER is a science fiction tactical RPG about mech pilots — lancers — who fight for a better future on the bleeding edge of a post-scarcity utopia still being born. It blends gritty, deeply customizable mech combat with rules-light narrative roleplay, giving equal weight to what you do in the cockpit and who you are outside it.
Ten thousand years from now, humanity survived ecological collapse, spread to the stars, and built Union — a communal, post-capital interstellar government working toward a genuine utopia. The golden age is real for the Galactic Core; for the frontier worlds, it is still a promise written in mech exhaust and railgun fire. Megacorporate manufacturers supply the frames that lancers ride into a galaxy where the work of liberation is never quite finished.
Mech Licensing
Pilots earn License Points each level to unlock frames, weapons, and systems from four rival manufacturers. Mix and match across any frame — no two builds are ever the same.
Heat & Stress
Mechs overheat. Pushing weapons and systems fills your Heat Cap; overflow triggers Stress rolls on the reactor table, up to and including catastrophic meltdown.
Non-Human Persons
NHPs are paracausal intelligences bound inside mech cores. Push them too hard and they Cascade, breaking free of restraint with unpredictable and often terrifying results.
Two Modes of Play
Structured tactical grid combat handles the battles; freeform Narrative Mode handles everything else — downtime, piloting intrigue, on-foot action.
