"Wizards, vampires and bad debts on the streets of a city that never asks questions."
Dresden Files Accelerated is Evil Hat's pick-up-and-play RPG set in Jim Butcher's Dresdenverse, built on Fate Accelerated. It follows the heavier Dresden Files RPG (Your Story / Our World) with a faster engine: roll four Fate dice, add one of six Approaches, and spend Fate points on Aspects. Mantles — wizard, White Court vampire, Knight of the Cross, clued-in mortal — bundle Stunts and Conditions into ready-made roles, while Scale lets a cop and a fae lord share one table.
The modern world, with the supernatural hiding just behind it. Wizards of the White Council enforce the Laws of Magic, vampire Courts feud, the Sidhe trade in favors, and the Fomor move into the gaps. Your group picks a city, fills it with factions and their faces, and plays the people — mortal or otherwise — who stand between them.
4dF + Approach
Roll four Fate dice and add one of six Approaches — Flair, Focus, Force, Guile, Haste or Intellect. The Approach describes how you act, not what you know, and colors the outcome.
Aspects & Fate Points
Short phrases describe characters, scenes and factions. Spend a Fate point to invoke one for +2 or a reroll; accept a compel that complicates your life and you earn a point back.
Mantles, Conditions & Stunts
A Mantle is your role in the Dresdenverse: a package of unique Stunts and Conditions. Checking off boxes like Exhausted, Indebted or Hungry fuels your powers and sets the price of recovery.
Scale
Beings are ranked from Mundane through Supernatural and Otherworldly up to Godlike. Acting against someone lower on the ladder grants a bonus to the roll or extra shifts, so power gaps matter.
