What is Session Zero?

Session Zero is a free group voting tool that helps a tabletop RPG group decide what to play next. Everyone votes on the systems they would be excited to run, and the group instantly sees a ranked shortlist — no more endless back-and-forth in the group chat. It is free, needs no signup, and works in English and Russian.

Frequently asked questions

How does the group voting work?

Set up your players (just names — no accounts), let everyone browse the catalogue of 51+ systems and vote for the ones they want to try, and open the results page to see them ranked by votes. Pick the winner, or argue over the top three over pizza.

Is this the same as a session-zero prep meeting?

No. A session-zero meeting is where a group sets expectations, agrees on safety tools and makes characters — that happens after you have chosen the game. Session Zero (this tool) is for the step before: deciding which TTRPG to actually play. Use it to pick the system, then run your prep session.

Do we need to sign up?

No signup and no login. Your group, votes and custom systems are stored in your browser. The tool is completely free and works in English and Russian.

Which tabletop RPGs can we vote on?

51+ systems across OSR, Powered by the Apocalypse, the Year Zero Engine, narrative, solo and sci-fi/horror — from Mothership and Blades in the Dark to Mörk Borg, Dragonbane and Call of Cthulhu. You can also add your own systems to the vote.
